February 9, 2017- GGLDC APPOINTS GENESEE COUNTY LEGISLATOR GREGG TORREY TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS – The Genesee Gateway Local Development Corporation has appointed Genesee County Legislator Gregg Torrey to the organization’s board of directors.  Mr. Torrey represents the towns of Alexander, Bethany and Pavilion.  

 

January 30, 2017- TENCAR ANNOUNCES NEW ROUND OF SEED FUNDING FOR PROSTHETIC APPLIANCE FOR COLOSTOMY/ILEOSTOMY PATIENTS- Excell Partners and Launch NY Seed Fund LLC make $100,000 investment in local medical device start-up company.  TenCar, a women-owned medical devices and equipment company founded by Batavia native Georgann Carrubba, RN, today announced a new round of seed funding to continue building customer feedback and anticipated pilot production in 2017 for the company’s Choice Cap prosthetic appliance.  

 

January 20, 2017  GCEDC APPROVES CONTRACTS FOR INFRASTRUCTURE WORK AT STAMP - What started over a decade ago as a concept to market a site for the emerging advanced manufacturing industry became a reality as the Board of Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) approved contracts to prepare bids for infrastructure work at STAMP.  The first phase of infrastructure funding is part of the $33 million allocated to STAMP from the Buffalo Billion.

 

January 18, 2017  “BATAVIA PATHWAY TO PROSPERITY” SHOWCASED AT NEW YORK STATE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL CONFERENCE - The “Batavia Pathway to Prosperity” (BP2), the program created through an inter-municipal agreement between the City of Batavia, Genesee County, the Batavia City School District, the Batavia Development Corporation (BDC) and the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) was showcased at the annual conference of the New York State Economic Development Council in Albany, NY on January 18, 2017.  Batavia City Manager Jason Molino, GCEDC President and CEO Steve Hyde, GCEDC Vice President Chris Suozzi and GCEDC Marketing Director Rachel Tabelski participated in the presentation at the conference to economic development officials from across New York State.

 

November 25, 2016- GCEDC TO CONSIDER APPROVING APPLICATIONS FROM EMPIRE PIPELINE AND TJ SHEEHAN – The Board of Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) will consider approving applications for assistance from TJ Sheehan and Empire Pipeline at the agency’s December 1, 2016 meeting.

 

November 4, 2016- GCEDC APPROVES APPLICATION FOR ASSISTANCE FOR MEGA PROPERTIES WAREHOUSE EXPANSION – The Board of Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) approved an application for assistance from Mega Properties and a GAIN loan at its special board meeting on Friday, November 4, 2016.  

 

October 31, 2016- GCEDC BOARD ACCEPTS $28 MILLION GRANT DISBURSEMENT FROM EMPIRE STATE DEVELOPMENT FOR INFRASTRUCTURE WORK AT STAMP – The Genesee County Economic Development Center board of directors voted at its October 27, 2016 meeting to accept Empire State Development’s $28 million Grant Disbursement Agreement (GDA) to start infrastructure work at the STAMP campus in order to achieve shovel-ready status.  

 

October 28, 2016- GENESEE GATEWAY LOCAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION APPROVES BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2017– The Board of Directors of the Genesee Gateway Local Development Corporation (GGLDC) passed a budget for Fiscal Year 2017 at its board meeting on October 27, 2016 adopting a budget with anticipated cash outflows of $1.36 million. 

 

October 28, 2016- GCEDC Board accepts application for assistance from Massachusetts based BEVERAGE wholesale- The Board of Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) voted to accept an application for assistance from T.J. Sheehan, a Massachusetts based beverage wholesaler with various operations in New York State.

 

October 25, 2016- GCEDC TO CONSIDER FINAL RESOLUTION FOR MEGA PROPERTIES WAREHOUSE EXPANSION- BATAVIA, NEW YORK – The Board of Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) will consider finalizing an application for assistance from Mega Properties.  The agency also will consider accepting an application for assistance from TJ Sheehan, a Massachusetts based wholesaler at the agency’s October 27, 2016 meeting.

REVOLVING LOAN FUNDS FOR ORGANIC DAIRY FARM AND CREAMERY- The Board of Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) approved applications for GAIN! revolving loan funds for agricultural projects in Pavilion and East Bethany and a PILOT extension for Empire Pipeline in the town of Oakfield at its October 5, 2016 meeting.

 

October 3, 2016- GCEDC TO CONSIDER APPLICATIONS FOR GAIN! REVOLVING LOAN FUNDS FOR AREA AGRICULTURAL PROJECTS- The Board of Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) will consider two applications for GAIN! revolving loan funds for agricultural projects in Pavilion and East Bethany.

 

September 1, 2016- GENESEE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CENTER APPROVES BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2017– The Board of Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) passed a budget for Fiscal Year 2017 at its board meeting today, adopting a budget of $47.6 million.

 

August 30, 2016- L&M SPECIALTY MANUFACTURING SEEKING INCENTIVES TO BUILD NEW FACILITY IN TOWN OF BATAVIA- The Board of Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) will consider an application for assistance from L&M Specialty Manufacturing at its September 1, 2016 board meeting.  The GCEDC Board also will vote on the agency’s 2017 budget.

June 2, 2016- TENCAR LAUNCHES CROWDFUNDING INITIATIVETenCar, a women owned medical devices and equipment company founded by Georgann Carrubba, RN, has launched a crowdfunding campaign as the company looks to start the evaluation and initial manufacturing phase of its Choice Cap product.  Funds generated will be used to build initial evaluation units for further customer feedback prior to pilot production in 2017.

 

June 1, 2016- Batavia Pathway to Prosperity (BP2) partners to host Economic Development Forum- Partners of the Batavia Pathway to Prosperity (BP2) Program, including the Batavia Development Corporation, Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC), Genesee County, City of Batavia and Batavia School District, will host members of the business community for an economic development forum on the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council’s Upstate Revitalization Plan, Finger Lakes Forward. 

 

May 25, 2016- GCEDC PRESIDENT AND CEO STEVE HYDE NAMED CHAIRMAN OF THE NEW YORK STATE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL–Steve Hyde, president and CEO of Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC), has been named chairman of the New York State Economic Development Council (NYSEDC).  Hyde was elected to a two-year term during NYSEDC’s annual meeting in Cooperstown, NY, on May 25, 2016.  Hyde and the GCEDC have been members of the NYSEDC since 2004. 

 

May 17, 2016- GENESEE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CENTER ANNOUNCES REVOLVING LOAN PROGRAM FOR AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRY- The Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) in conjunction with Empire State Development has created a new revolving loan program to assist the agricultural industry in the Finger Lakes region.  “Growing the Agriculture Industry Now” (GAIN) Revolving Loan Program is an initiative to capitalize local agricultural businesses that are utilizing new technologies and expanding operations.

May 5, 2016- GENESEE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CENTER (GCEDC) APPROVES PROJECT FOR ALPINA FOODS, INC. $1.1 million investment will create 4 new jobs while retaining 23 jobs in Genesee Valley Agri-Business Park in town of Batavia– The Board of Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) approved a final resolution for an application for assistance from Alpina Foods, Inc. at its May 5, 2016, board meeting.  

 

May 3, 2016- GCEDC TO CONSIDER EXPANSION PROJECT FROM ALPINA FOODS, INC. - Alpina to invest $1.1 million for drinkable yogurt line – The Board of Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) will consider an expansion project for Alpina Foods, Inc. at its May 5, 2016 board meeting. Alpina Foods, Inc. is planning to construct a 3,200 square foot addition to its existing facility in Batavia to accommodate space for a new bottle-filling machine and packaging equipment for a new drinkable yogurt product.

 

March 16, 2016-“BATAVIA PATHWAY TO PROSPERITY” OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED AT FIRST DEVELOPMENT SITE- Savarino unveils plans to redevelop Batavia’s Ellicott Station under new program, City and county officials gathered today to unlock the “Batavia Pathway to Prosperity” (BP2), a program created through an inter-municipal agreement between the City of Batavia, Genesee County, the Batavia City School District, the Batavia Development Corporation and the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC).  Savarino Companies was selected following a published Request for Proposal issued by the Batavia Development Corporation for the redevelopment of the Ellicott Station site, likely the first project to participate in the program.

 

March 15, 2016- BATAVIA/GENESEE COUNTY AGAIN NAMED AS TOP MICROPOLITAN BY SITE SELECTION MAGAZINE- Region ties for 5th place on national list, For the 12th consecutive year, Site Selection Magazine has once again recognized Batavia/Genesee County as a 2015 “top micropolitan” for corporate facility investments in the United States. 

 

March 4, 2016- GENESEE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CENTER (GCEDC) APPROVES 2016 PROJECTS FOR DARIEN LAKE THEME PARK RESORT AND MEGA PROPERTIES, INC. – The Board of Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) approved a final resolution for an application for assistance from Darien Lake Theme Park Resort, as well as an initial resolution for Mega Properties, Inc.’s Koolatron project, at its March 3, 2016, board meeting. 

 

March 2, 2016- GCEDC TO CONSIDER FINAL RESOLUTION FOR DARIEN LAKE’S TOURISM DESTINATION PROJECT- Board to also consider resolution for Mega Properties, Inc.’s expansion.

 

February 5, 2016- GCEDC ENTERS INTO INTER-MUNICIPAL AGREEMENT WITH CITY OF BATAVIA FOR “BATAVIA PATHWAY TO PROSPERITY” (B2P) FUND- Board also approves public hearing for Darien Lake sales tax exemption.

 

February 3, 2016- GCEDC TO CONSIDER ENTERING INTER-MUNICIPAL AGREEMENT TO SUPPORT “BATAVIA PATHWAY TO PROSPERITY” (B2P) INITIATIVE- Officials from the City of Batavia and the Batavia Development Corporation will make a presentation to the Board of Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) at the agency’s February 4, 2016 board meeting.

January 15, 2016- GCEDC AUTHORIZES TRANSFER OF PILOT AGREEMENT TO DAIRY FARMERS OF AMERICA- Company commits to $300,000 payment to town of Batavia for water and sewer as well as assumption of fire district fees.
