GCEDC Advances $11 Million Distribution Center Proposal

Public Hearing to be scheduled for proposed agreements with Mega Properties, Inc.

BATAVIA, NY – A 165,000 square foot distribution center proposed at the Gateway II Corporate Park in the town of Batavia, projected to generate $18.7 million in community benefits, will be reviewed at a future public hearing.

The Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) board of directors advanced an initial resolution at its August 7 meeting for Mega Properties, Inc.’s proposed $11 million distribution center. The project has pledged to create 28 full-time equivalent (FTE) positions.

Mega Properties, Inc. is requesting a sales tax exemption of $523,328, a mortgage tax exemption of $80,000, and a property tax abatement of $1,504,602. The project is estimated to generate $17.5 million in new payroll and $1.2 million in future tax revenues, for an estimated $11 local benefit for every $1 of requested incentives.

A public hearing on the proposed project agreements will be scheduled in the town of Batavia.

Mega Properties, Inc.’s proposed $11 million distribution center has pledged to create 28 full-time equivalent (FTE) positions.

Mega Properties, Inc. is requesting a sales tax exemption of $523,328, a mortgage tax exemption of $80,000, and a property tax abatement of $1,504,602. Gateway II Corporate Park is a shovel-ready site located north of New York State Thruway Exit 48 enabling tenants to quickly reach customers across the region.

If the proposed project application is advanced, a public hearing will be scheduled in the town of Batavia.

The GCEDC board meeting will be on Thursday, August 7 at 3 p.m. at the MedTech Center’s Innovation Zone, 99 MedTech Drive, Batavia.
