With a cheer and the steady hands of Rochester Regional Health leaders, the ribbon on Genesee County’s latest medical services enhancement was official.

The Batavia Medical Campus formally opens in August, bringing more than a dozen specialty services to the 95,000 square-foot hub.

“The first milestone … is achieving the goal of having a location strategically placed where we an have easy access to health care, right in the heartland of rural western New York between Buffalo and Rochester, said Dan Ireland, President and CEO of Finger Lakes Rural Hospitals, who shared that the location on the east-west Interstate 90 and north-south State Route 98 was purposeful. “We’re committed to bringing access to health care conveniently to our communities, both in Genesee County, and the surrounding areas as well.”

Project Accelerate with GCFC Services, Flexibility

Construction of the Batavia Medical Campus does more than add to the quality of life and services available to our community. It shows how support provided by the Genesee County Funding Corporation (GCFC) delivers real results in Genesee County – and beyond.

In 2022, the GCFC approved tax-exempt bonding for the $42 million Batavia investment, and with the partnership of St. Lawrence County, a $71.8 million investment to expand The Canton Potsdam hospital.

The strategic ability of the GCFC to support this project enabled rural healthcare improvements in both community at a lower cost than the market – savings that directly benefit the ability of Rochester Regional Health to support patients.

GCFC Projects Invest in Health, Education

Supporting a non-profit with a large community benefit is at the core of the Genesee County Funding Corporation’s work.

GCFC tax-exempt bonds have previously supported investments to…

  • Construct Mercy Flight’s nearby emergency medical services base
  • Construct and equip a 10,000 square-foot cancer treatment center
  • Renovate the Genesee Community College Foundation’s housing facilities supporting over 200 GCC students
  • More than $122 million of investment is making a difference for our health, and our future because of the services provided by the GCFC.
