Edwards Update : May 2024

The announcement of Edwards Vacuum's groundbreaking at the STAMP Mega-Site isn't the only action underway for semiconductor dry pump manufacturing in Genesee County, NY.

Edwards Genesee Project Manager Jeff Mickel updated on recruitment, construction, and growth in Buffalo Business First.

Mickel said the company plans to pour the foundation for the plant by the end of this month and have the building sealed up before winter weather begins at the end of the year. The plan is to begin installing equipment by next summer and receive a certificate of occupancy by fall 2025. Mickel said the company is ordering equipment now, because of long lead times.

Phase one of the projects, which is $127 million, will build out the 240,000-square-foot facility and provide equipment that sill support 10,000 pumps per year and 280 jobs. Phase two will consist of doubling the amount of equipment, for which the building has capacity, and providing 20,000 pumps per year.

“Phase three is when the building doubles in size, and that will bring us to the 600 jobs and $319 million,” Mickel said.
