Certification Process

Timing of certification is extremely important. The GCEDC will work with you to estimate potential financial benefits and identify the most appropriate time to become certified in order to maximize the benefits. Once eligibility and timing of certification have been discussed, the company completes the following two documents: 1) Form EZ-1 Application for Certification and 2) Cost/Benefit Information addendum. The two completed documents must be returned to the GCEDC. The Genesee County Empire Zone Administrative Board must formally approve the application request, before it is forwarded to Empire State Development for its review and approval.
